Although being still a fisherman’s island, it is providing tourists
with all the amenities and attractions that a Mexican Caribbean island
can offer. The water sports are numerous,
the beaches with their cool white coral sand
invite both to just relax or play Volleyball, Soccer or Frisbee. The
restaurants offer a big variety
on seafood (... where else could it be fresher!), and Mexican dishes,
but also international delicacies from Italy, France, Japan, Thailand,
and not to forget the simple, but all-over loved steaks and hamburgers
will find and fuel your delight!
Getting around on the island is quite easy: “downtown”
everything is within walking distance. To explore the
rest of the island, golf carts, motor scooters or bicycles can be rented.
Tours to the near-by ruins of Chichen Itza, Uxmal
and Tulum are organized from the Island and a “must-see”
is a visit to the small bird sanctuary island Isla
Contoy, a tiny island just a few boat hours away.
Isla Mujeres is both a springboard for being active and adventurous
and at the same time the perfect hide away. Relax your mind and body,
and just let the Caribbean sun warm your heart. Massages,
Yoga and Meditation, harmoniously merging with Salsa
Dancing, Scuba Diving and Adventure Tours, is just a
mere sampling of what this beautiful destination has to offer.
Simply walking around in Isla Mujeres and making contact with the islanders
and other visitors from all over the world will make you feel being
part of a huge universe that appears to be reduced to this one tiny
Mexican Caribbean Island. It’s what makes visitors feel
at home instantly and you can tell from the smiles on the faces
that Isla Mujeres just has this very special
energy that makes it so hard to leave but always easy to come back.
